This committoe haa also issued a statement believed to herald a move to oust Franco. timed to coincide with the Atlantic Pact- and the United Nations Assembly.

The statement explains that no violent action has been taken be- cause the workers ars certain the Franco regime "will eventually sink in the mud oi its own im- morality." '

Polyclinic Bldg. Soon To Be Taken As Health Centre

It is expected that the Provinci- al Department oi Health and Wel- fare will soon take over the pre- sent Polyclinic building on Prince Street. stbted Hon. A. W. Mathe- son, K. C.. Minister oi Health and Welfare yesterday.

The Health Centre will house doctors and nurses of the Depart- ment and possibly a clerk, who will keep the vital statistics. Dr. B. C. Keeping, Chief Health Officer, will have an office in the building as will the Health Planning Com- mission. i

Provision was made in the Estimates for a $25,000 addition to the building for laboratories. It is expected that this sum will be augmented by Dominion funds and a $40,000 building project is contemplated. ,

The Minister stated that most of the permanent fixtures, such as sinks and other medical necessities. will be left in the building. It is expected that little immediate alteration will be necessary and that beyond some interior decorat- ing, the building will be ready for occupancy immediately the doctors and staff of tho Polyclinic move to their new quarters.

The finishing touches are be- ing put on the new Poiyclinic on Fitzroy. Some wood-work and painting will complete the bulld- ing and the doctors expect to move in some time in April.

Apart from the warm welcome which Prince Edward Islanders offer the new province of New- foundland, a few external signs and activities mark the historic day when the Tenth Province comes into Confederation.

A large “Welcome” been erected between the' two upper pillars oi the Provincial Building facing Great George Street. Illuminated at night, the sign shows the two islands with the legend under the word "Wel- come" “As one Island to An- other." The sign "was made at the Vocational School.

A film of the National Film

Board, "Newfoundland - Sentinel of the’ Atlantic" will be shown in the City schools today and later in Bummerslde and other schools throughout the Island. A special film on Newfoundland is also be- ing shown in the Prince Edward Theatre. Some of the pupils oi West Kent School will sing the "Ode to New- foundland" at the showing pf the film in school.

The Director of Education, Dr. Lloyd W. Shaw, has- circularized the schools suggesting appropriate talks on Newfoundland from material in the school books and magazines and newspapers. He hopes to feature the new Pro- vince ln a geography lesson at the annual Teachers‘ Convention which will be-held during the week following Easter. Dr. Shaw is collecting materiel on Newfound- land to be distributed to the teachers at the convention. Yesterday Brigadier W. W. Reid received word from Halifax ad- vising hlm that a fifteen gun salute is to be fired at Charlotte- town on Friday, April lst, at 12 noon, in celebration of Newfound- land's union with Canada. Brigadier Reid has notified Lt.- Col. G. G. K. Peaks. officer com- mending the 28th L.A.A. who. will take charge of the salute

WARREN. 0., March 30 - (AP) — Mrs. Laura Brandt's "sweet" bath left her husband, Bill, with a sour look. She mistook 30 gallons of maple sap he'd gathered for rain water. .

Brandt had placed the maple sap in two lb-galion crocks out- side the house, but neglected to tell his wife. The crooks ordinarily were used by the Brandts to store rain water at their farm home near West Farmlngton. -
