Rev. Edgar N. Jackson, DD. Mamaroneck, New York, will be guest lecturer at this after- noon’s session of the Maritime Funeral Directors’ Convention at the Charlottetown.

Dr. Jackson, an author and lecturer, will discuss the psycho logy of grief and how the tuner- al profession can best serve peo- ple under stress.

The threeday convention opened last evening with regis- tration. provincial meetings and entertainment for delegates by Miss Maida Rogerson, Flank McIntyre and Dale Schwart.

Today’s agenda includes bus- iness sessions and a luncheon at 12 noon, sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, with Mayor A.W. Gaudet as chairman.

A bingo game is scheduled for this evening, followed at 9 p.m. by dancing in the hotel ball- room, with music by the Gal- lant Quartette. W.L. Smith and Associates will hold open house at 12 p.m. ..

Vagrant Draws Fine

Joseph Henry Steele of Souris was found guilty of a charge of vagrancy in City Police Court Saturday and was remanded to Monday without bail. He ap- peared before Magistrate A. J. Haslam, QC

Fined $20 and costs or 10 days when he pleaded guilty to a rtlarge of speeding, was Edi-n- ond Somers of Bradalbane.

Fined $15 and costs or 5 days on a charge of driving without due care and attent i o n, was Allan MacKinnon, of Canoe Cove.

James D_ Longaphie appear- ed on remand from Sept. 15, on s charge of assault. The assault Involved Longaphie's wife. court was told. Police said Mrs. Longaphie had been ad- mitted to hospital, and was still in hospital. Magistrate Has~ lam further remanded Longi- phie to Sept. 26.

National Parks Exploitation Is Ruled Out

OTTAWA (CF) — The com- mercial development of re- sources within Canada's na- tional parks was ruled out by Resources Minister Laing here as he issued a government policy statement on the parks.

"Our understanding of the na- tional parks as sanctuaries of mature where people can relax and enjoy themselves amid natural environment precludes the exploitation of the natural resources for their commercial value," he told the Commons.
