We found the Jail, under the management of m. Burr Dwysr. to be in good order and well cared for. with thirty-one male prison- ers at this date, and we would re- commend‘ tbat some form of em- ployment be provided for prison- ers. We also‘ feel that provision should be made for some manner of fire escape, and also g better arrangement for releasing prison- ers should fire occur, '

Iaicosswood Hospital

We found the building clean and sanitary, and the inmates well iooked_ after; food to be excellent; store houses clean and sanitary; quality of meats excellent; the ex- terior oi the men's building has been neglected for some time, staging been placed many months ago, but no worir irtempted; ser- ious leaks are becoming worse, and it should be attended to immed- iately. 'I‘tle i ‘ , at raioonwood is feted to capacity.

We found a fine new building about completed for the nurses. We are informed that the walls were not to be decorated. and would s-ecosnifrlend that they be painted or tinted. The domestic stailf house and the farmer's residence are both unfit for habitation, and should be replaced at once.

There is also the matter of staff transportation in and from the city. The wnPICyQQI are trans- ported in a panel truck which is used during the day for hauling all kinds of supplies including meat and fish. and those wishing to get in or out of the, city are permit- ted to sit on plank benches plac- ed along its sides. This we feel is one reason why it is hard to main- tain efficient staff. Either a bus should be provided or s franchise given to someone to , a bus service over a short route which would take in this institution.

Both the men's‘ and wcarsen's divisions’ are much overcrowded. and provision should be made for at least 1-20 more beds. We were advised that it was the intention rebuild an addition to the cow barn. This should be placed ad- joining iihe prent barn on the north, end a new milk room pro- vided with proper floor drainagl The horse barn has hardly any shingles on the roof. and the boards appear to be unfit to shing- le an. There is no floor in it, and the horses are standing on clay. This should be remedied at least before winter sets in.

In our opinion. all credit should be given to the Superintendent. Dr. Murchison and his efficient staff for excellent won: done un- der lrioet adverse circumstances.

Infirmary

We foimd the Infirmary. under the most capable rn-anag ‘ of Mrs. Sadie Garrick, to be in ex- cellent condition but. like Falcon- wood, much overcrowded. Addi- tionai laundry equipment is ab- solutely necessary and should be procured at once. Crowded into this institution. originally planned for '15 beds. we found 007 patients - 0i male and 11B female. The food seen at this instituti was of excellent quality.

Beach "Grove Inn

The Annex at Beach Grove Inn. with 17 male patients, we found to be excellently managed under iii/it's. Cecil Ferguson. we found the laundry from this Annex being sent to Falcon/wood for washing where the laundry equipment is already overtsxed, and would sug- gest that laundry facilities, capable of handling the maximum capac- ity, be provided.

A portion of this building was redecorated a few years ego, but the offices on the ground and third floors were not done. and siiould be cleaned and painted.

Attached hereto is a’ list of fencwiewsrs and constables we recommend for Queens County, and would suggest that sosne change should be made whereby the Grand Jury would not be re- sponsible for appointments.

Mrs. Archibald Mac- Eachern spent the greater part of her life in Charlottetown and was there a member of St. Paul's An- glican Church. When she and her family came to live in Cornwall, some years ago. she became active in all our interests and in our W. M. S. was always nappy to entertain us in her cow home. which she did many times, and her delight. during the social hour was to satisfy the ‘inner men’ by her special culinery art

--At the and of a long and useful earthly life death came to Mrs. Robert MacMurdo, nee Christy Ann Sharps. on Mond y, May 31st. 104.8. at bu home st Kenslngion. Silo w'ss 86 years of age and in recent months the weight oi her years had become more evident. to ner- eelf and to those who loved her. About two weeks. prior to her death, she became ill. and grad- ually declined. until she passed peacefully away. Sills was born at Norboro. a daughter of the late Alexander Douglas. and his WIIC, Ann Sharpe. At the time of her. marriage to the late Robert Mac- Milrdo she went to live at Kelvin where they remained until about l8 years ago, when they disposed of the farm property and settled at Kcnsington. She was a ivornan of whom it might truly be said. "She iooketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not trio breidccf idleness. Her children rise up and cell her biessedif

Her husband predeceased her by thirteen years and one day. One sister Fanny. Mrs. John Maclvlur- do, Kelvin and one brother. Ale).- ander of Norboro, predeceased her. The only remaining member of the family, Robert S. of Norboro. foi- lowed her to ohat “Higher Home". three days later. Left to mourn the loss of a loving parent. are two daughters, Ddns. at home, and An- nie, Mrs. Stanley Sharpe. Norooro, who cared for her with unwaver- ing devotion throughout her ill- ness. And two grandsons. Lloyd and Elton Sharpe, to whom she was deeply devoted. A number of nephews, nieces and other relatives also survive.

The funeral was held at Ken- slnglon United Church, aficl a short service at her late home. Her ministenilev. L. M. Murray, con-
