MacDONALD FUNERAL -— The funeral of the late, Alphonsus A. MacDonald was held on Wed/nes- day morning from the Hennessey Funeral Home to St. Patrick’s Church, Fort Augustus, where Requiem High Mass was celebrat- ed by Rev. Vincent Murnaghan, who also conducted service at the grave. Rev. Dr. Louis Callaghan, 'Rev. Basil Croken and Rev. 0.P. Wood occupied seats in the sanc- tuary. Pallbearers were Senator J. J. MacDonald, Daniel Mac- Donald, James L. MacDonald, Dennis O’Shea, Joseph Fisher, Eugene Callaghan. Interment took place in the church ceme- tery. The funeral was largely at- tended.

The “Maymere” a polatoe carrying freighter, went aground on a sand bar late yesterday atternoon while leaving the rail— way wharf.

The ship was refloated last night about 10 p Hi. When the tide

Mrs. R. Maclnnis Dies Al Residence

The death of Mrs. J. Ralph Maclnnis occurred at her resi- dence 29 Esher Street after a long illness Wednesday. She was 39 years old.

Mrs. Maclnnis was the form- er Mary Teresa Bowling, daugh- ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dowlimg of Charlottetown.

Song Service At Orwell Head

A Song Service was held in Orwell Head Church in aid of the Springhill disaster Fund.

The program consisted of duets by Chester Mart-in, Alan Clam— eron, Mrs. A.J. MacfPlherson and Collin Martin; Solo by Chester Marti-n; trio by Angus Martin. Collin Martin and Mrs. MacPher- son; also a trio by Mrs. Mac- Pherson, Alan Cameron and Ches— ter Martin and selections by the choir.

Junior LA. Have Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Junior Ladies Aid of the Prince Edward Island Hospital was held on Monday afiternoon November 17th., at the Cundall Home with the president, Mrs. George Fisher, in the chair. Two new members, Mrs. lacn Craig and Mrs. Gordon Drysdale, were welcomed. ‘

A sum of money was voted tor the purchase of a new patient lift for the hospital.

Belvedere Site Of New Holman Supermarket
