Will Celebrate 65th Wedding Anniversary

Many friends throughout the Province will be interested in learning that Mr. and Mrl. Peter N. Reilly, of Forest Hill, will shortly be celebrating their sixty- dfth wedding anniversary.

The story of the lives of this Island couple, both of whom are in their 00th year, is one of old- iime pioneer achievement. Mr. Reilly was two and one-half years old when he arrived in Forelt liiii. 1t was in the springtime. Ind the swamp road to the Hill was so boggy that he was carried on the back of his father through the swamp approach over s cow- path. as he and his mother and father came from their ship- building former home near Little River. to hack a new home out of the dense woods in Forest Hill.

Mrs. Reilly came from St. Pet- er's Road, when she was about ien years old. Her family, too, were obliged to carve a cabin from the wooded hill.

As thc two families grew into maturity. romance buddcd and developed into marriage between Peter N. Reilly and Mary A. Mac- Donald, sixty-five years ago.

Mr. Reilly's father died at the ago of 50. Ho left a large family, of which Peter N. was the oldest. As a result, he became the bread- winncr for hil mother and her family. and for his own new fam- ily that came along in the natural course of marital events.

Nine children ' were born to them. Many hard days .of work. and long nlghti of worry became the lot of those who lived under the conditions of those‘ early set- tlement daya. Despite it all, a high degree of happiness and con- tentment always prevailed; and their home, while containing few material luxuries. held a great wealth of faith and Godilness.

It is the wish oi‘ their many friends that Mr. and Mrs. Reilly will continue to enjoy health and strength. as they approach this memorable anniversary of their wedded lives.
