The gifts were carried in by Misses Rona Payn- ter and Irene Profitt, .and opened by Miss Gladys Fitzslmmons. — POST-NUPTIAL SHOWER. - On ‘Ptlesday evening despite the unfavourable weather a large num- ber of people gailiered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Moose, New Annan, to tender a post-nuptial shower to their son, Mr. Stutly Moase and his bride, the former Ruth Rayner. While Miss Olive Dalziei played the bridal chorus. the newly-weds were escorted to the seat of honor under a beauti- ful pink and white canopy by Mrs. Elia Montgomery and Mr. Keith Moase. The baskets of attractive- ly wrapped gifts were carried in by Misses Sylvia Rayner and Pauline Moase. Opening the gifts were Misses Mildred McNeiil and Georgina Cairns. while Mrs. George Taylor and Miss Lilly Gunning read their messages and made the presentation. Mrs. Keith Thomp- son and Mrs. Wm. Moase arranged the lovely gifts on the table. Mr. Moase very fittingly replied, thank- ing his friends on behalf of him- self and his bride for their gifts and good wishes. A pleasant so- cial evening with instrumental music and surging was enjoyed, and a bounteous lunch was served by the ladies.

--JOINT VALENTINE PARTY- The four Young People's Unions of the O'Leary pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada held s combined Valentina Party at the Oddfellcws Hall in 0'Lel.ry en Thursday night, Feb. 1'1. Young people were present from Brae. West Devon. Bloomfield, Uriloli- vsle, Knutsford, Rosebank and Oleary. Thorn was a vary large attendance but the weather was most inclement. The thickly fall- ing snow. fanned by high winds. soon turned into a raging blizzard with heavy drifts which necessitat- ed tha Bloomfield Young People leaving for home right after the impressive devotional service. The Brae and West Devon groups also found the going very hard enroute home. The hall was most appro- priately decorated with Valentine novelities by members of the OLeal-y Young Peoples Union. -—ENJOYABLE SOCIAL —- One of the most enjoyable sociais ever held in St. Mary's Hall, Summer- side, was that of Thursday even- ing sp =6 by the Women's Aux- iliary and the Guild. The social was given primarily as s. tribute to the Layman! Association for the splen- did work recently performed by the men in remodelling the kitchen of the hall, but it was made an event for all. The program with Mr. James Connell as master of cere- monies, opened with a Paul Jones, followed by re-marks by the presi- dent of the WA. Mrs. Ray Clark. the plesident of the Laymen's As- sociation, Mr. Emery Lyle and Ven. Archdeacon G. R. Harrison. Special features of the evening were two vocal solos by Mr. Ivor Phillips with Miss Wanda Wyatt as accompan- tst; the other features were games andcontests, followed by a bounti- ful lunch supplied by the W.A. and the Guild.
