Horse flesh is rising in value. Not so long ago, as many are aware, Mr. Donald Campbell, of Johnson’s River, sold his trotter, sired by Abdallah Messenger, for the handsome sum of $500. Another Ab- dallah, in the shape of a beautiful chestnvt colt, five months’ old, owned by Mr. John MeQuaid, of Dromore, brought an offer of $100. This does not seem to be a bad price for a youngster, but something higher is looked for.

being made upon the present Stipendiary Magistrate, neither has he any desire to discuss the question as to whether Mr. Fitzgerald is in sympathy with the Act or not? There has been entirely too much said about it, and one journal at least, which bears a religious name would have display- ‘
ed a great deal more of the spirit of *‘the ; Master,” had there been less of spleen in its !compositions. So-called religious journals, sometimes become public nuisances, and there is nothing kills a good cause quicker than fanatical and unwise advocacy. To put the whole thing in a nut sheil—the Scor Act is there, and it is capable of proper ad ministration. It is therefore clearly the duty of our Government, our law officers and the electors who chose the Act, to see that it is put in force. Proper authority should ad- minister the law properly. TRUTH. Free Trade.
The reduction of internal revenue and the taking off of revenue stamps from Proprietary Medicines, no doubt has largely benefitted the consumers, as well as relieving the burden of home manufacturers. Especially is this the case with Green's August Flower and Boschee's German Syrup, as the reduction of thirty-six | cents per dozen has been added to increase the| size ot the bottles containing these remedies, thoreby giving one-fifth more medicine in the 75 cent size.
The August Flower for Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint, and the German Syrup for Cough
and Lung troubles, have perhaps the largest aio of any medicines im the world. The ad-

At a meeting held in New York on the \7th inst., by the General Council of the |Fenian Brotherhood, it was decided, in |view of the erroneous statements made by ©’ Donovan Rossa regarding the severance | of his official connection with the brother hood, to make a statement tothe public | giving the reasons which rendered, as they |say, the removal of Rossa ‘tan absolute | necessity.” The documents recite at great length Rossa’s unsuccessful attempt to pack ithe recent convention of the brotherhood; | refers to HIS PAST TRANSGRESSIONS,
