Successful Show , And Parade Held

Another pet show and doll car- riage parade went off with a bang iast evening on King's Square with a record number of entries. Nu- nicrous classes were shown and adults as well as children enjoy- etl themselves to the fullest. The show, which is an annual event. is qmnsorcd by the Charlottetown Piaygrounds' Commission. and et- iincted a large number of per- SUITE.

There were seven classes enter- -: including: Large dogs, small dogs. cats. kittens, unusual pets, dolls and doll carriages. The chil- dren as well as their parents were more than enthused and all other oillookcrl thoroughly enjoyed them- selves.

One heifer was missing from the shipment as a result of her break for freedom the previous night. While being taken from a irucl: to the railway car, a brown and white heifer, part of the shipment of W.W. Anderson, suddenly bolt- ed. She knocked down the man who was leading her and ran until out of sight of her pursucrs. Al- though the search continued for some timg.and was continued yes- terday. the animal is still at large. Another heifer was picked up at Borden to replace the absent Ayr- shire.

in charge of the shipment is Alex Waiters who has had much experience in live stock ship- men-is. Previously Mr. Waiters has taken hugs to Iowa. and livestock to Calgary. as well as many other shipments to closer points.

The V-D Holstein-Jersey calf club of Bcdeque held the regular judging class meeting on Monday evening, July l'lth' at the farm of Mr. W. J. Reid. Middleton. Ten members were present and most made a good job of placing the class of mature Holsteins.

The next judging class is to be held at Mr. Montgomery's Lower Bedeque.

Seventeen members of the Free- town Holstein-Ayrshire calf club were present at the farm of Mr. Allison Profitt. Freetown cn Tues- day evening, July lath for the reg- ular judging class. I. class of mat- ure Holstein cows was judged and reasons given by the club mem- bera.

The next judging class will he held at M.r. John I..cwis' on Aug- ust 22nd.

A meeting of the "Whitehead" calf club was held at Seaview schcol. Tuesday evening. July lath. Fifteen members were present and some visitors. Carl Murphy was appointed chairman for the even- ing and Clifford Donald was ap- pointed temporary secretary. Mor- ris Deacon, Fleldman. Dept. Agriculture reviewed last month's study of feeding before instructing the members on preparation and showing of the call at the Club Achievement Day. A demonstrat- ion of halter-making was given.

The final debate of the Prince Edward Island Junior Farmers dc- hatlng competition will be held in the Agricultural Room of the Vocational School on Wednesday evening July 26th at 3:30 P. M.

This debate brings together Bed- eque-Freetown. the winner in Prince County and St. Margaret's Junicr Farmers who won hi the Kings and Queens counties.

The topic for debate is: "Resolv- ed that the future well-being of Maritime Agriculture depends more on adequate marketing regulations than on economy of production." St. Margaret's will uphold the resolution and Bedeque-Freetown will argue the negative side.

The probable speakers for St. Margaret's will be Floyd McGaugh. Tommy McGau5;h and Miss Mar- tina Hughes. Probable speakers for Bedeque-Freetown will be wiilinm

It is hoped that a large audience will be at the vocational school on July 26th to show their ap- preciation to these young people who have spent a lot of time pre- paring for this and other debates in this competition.

The annual ,Junior Farmer's Field Day will be held this year on Monday. August 7th at the Up- ton Farm of the Dominion Exper- imental Farm.

Upton Farm is situated on the North River Road about 4 miles from Charlottetown almost to the North River bridge. There is a new type of barn now being built on this farm and a large silo already completed near it. Also there are many acres of experimental plots located on the Upton farm. A large part of this farm is now used for posturing the young cattle or the Experimental Farm Ayrshire herd.

An afternoon and evening pro- gram of sports, tractor driving com- petition, judging competitions, weight guessing contests. etc. will get underway at 1:00 P. M. and carry on into the evening. The official opening will be at 2:00 P. M. The evening program will be lit the new North River ri.nk. Can- teens will be located at the farm and- the rink.

This Field Day should be one of fun and friendly fellowship for .all who attend.

A verdict of accidental death was returned by a coroner's jury last night at Montague in connect- ion with the demise of Mr. Cartney MacLure. of Dover. P. E. I. in the KlnB's County Memorial Hospital on July 15.

"From evidence submitted." the jury reported. "we believe his death resulted from injuries re- ceived when he was run over on Friday night, July 14, at Dover by a motor truck driven by Roy Buell of Abney. that the said Roy Buell was blameless in the unfortunate occurrence. and that it was entire- ly accidental ."
