this Island appears to us to be a yery a ferjor kind of woud with which to construct any kind of a substantial and lasting work We are not certain as to whether there jg any material difference between the spruce of this Island and the spruce of Nova Scot, ani New Brunswick, but we have always understood that there is a very great dif ference. It js pur purpose to make enquiry and to find out the real truth about the matter. Some parties here contend thut spruce is not at all fit for railway purposes while others say that it is nearly equal 9 juniper, and has been extensively used op all the firsj-class railways in the provinces. Others deny that it has been used for tiag there at all.
