Hauirax March 2.—The Line Steamer Labrador, which from Halifax on Thursday, went ashore on the Skeery Vore.

It is believed that the vessel is a total loss, but itis thought that al] of the passengers were saved.

The Labrador had fifty-six on board, the political agent of the Filipino Junta; and L. E. Prowse, S. A. McLeod, of the firm of Moore & McLeod, W. W. Stan- ley, of Stanley Bros., W. A. Huestis, of Perkins & Co., C.J. Leigh, jr., of Messrs. W.A. Weeks & Co.,and J. A. McLaren, of James Paton & Co., all of Charlotte- No particulars have been received

: (The Skerry Vore lighthouse, where the steamer is reported to | have been wrecked, is twelve miles off Tiree Island, in the Hebrides of Scotland, and is fifty or sixty miles from any means of telt graphic com-~ munication which probably accounts for the lack of particulars. ]

Mr E. H. Beer, thesgeat-in .Charloite- town of The Dominion Line, received this morning the following telegram from the agents of the Company at Montreal:—

“Have just received the following cable from London:—Fear Labrador is a total loss but everybody saved.

Mr George Stanley, who telegraphed the Montreal agents, also received areply cor= firming the above despatch regarding tLe total {oss of the ship and stating that the passengers had all been got ashore.

The Skerry Vore is a rock that is dread- ed. Sorough and wild isthe sea that it was only after numerous attempts, all re- sulting in failure, thata light wae at las established upon it. Time and egain were the light houses destroyed and wash~ ed away; but finally in 1844 the present structure was completed after four years of building. The Skerry Vore lightis second in importance only to the famous Eddy-~ stone Lighthouse.

Messrs. James Paton, Geo. Stanley and B. C, Prowse cabled to their London agent through the day for information and re- ceived the following cablegram in reply :—

Loxpon, March 2. — The Labrador struck in a thick fog. The passengers and crew were saved in boats.

One boat landed at Skerry Vore light~ house. The remainder were picked up by the German steamer Viking.

If the ship is uot broken up ithere qill be an endeavor made to save the mails when a steamer can be ebtained.

Paseengers and crew lost everything they possessed.

There was much excitement when the ship struck ; but the fears of the passen- gere,were calmed by the assurance of the captain.

The passengers have been accommodat~ ed at hotels and private houses in Tober- mary, Scotland.

The jurymen were discharged yesterday and it was expected that the regular busi- ness of the court will be over this evening, and that the Gallant election appeal will come On to-morrcw. Judges Hodgson and Fitzjsrald are expected down to-night to sit on it in conjanction with the Chief Justice.
