Nine cold tricks. But East’s played this game be- fore and knows his way around a bridge table. He looks you in the eye and plays the deuce of clubs. Now, of course, you’ve got your work cut out for you. You

Gromyko said Russia is ready to sign "even tomorrow . . . anl agreement on the discontinuation of nuclear weapons tests . . . wit out any reservations or precon- ditions.” .
Russia long has maintained it is willing to sign an agreement to end such weapons tests. The United States contends that to he of value a pact would have to be accompanied by agreement on a worldwide inspection system to make sure no one cheated.
Some hope has been. expressed here that Russia might be willing to make some concessions on the issue, but Gromyko's speech pro- vided little support for the idea.
