Now I believe I can help change that downward trend and bring about a change in direc— I am not going to make all kinds of promises, instead I am going to ccmnit myself to work as hard as I possibly can to make the Student Union work for the better of all the students and not just a small select group. Student Union and my university. _ I ‘For.far too long students have been content to sit back and complain about. the lack of adequate facil- ities, boring social life, and increasing drain on their bank accounts each September. Complaining alone never changed any- thing. concerns rather than meekly accept the status quo. We students must press for a greater voice in all matters which affect us. We deserve no less. _ It is only by showing this kind of inspirational leadership that the stu- dent body will begin to show some confidence in student government. This confidence will translate into greater involvement in S.U. activities. The problem of how to revi- talize the Barn will be then partially solved; students will reflect a new spirit in their relationships, and the university as a whole will benefit. 4 I look forward to playing a part in turning the tide of apathy. program, and I have ‘ studied electives in the faculties of Economics and Business Administration. During my time at UPEI I have been-a regular bartender at the Student I have also played* a variety of sports, including.intercollegiate football, intramural basketball, and rugby. I have been further involved in varioUS committees and organizations, such as The Engineering Society and The Concerned Students Committee. Through these bodies I have had ample

opportunity to work with' .

the Comptroller and the Student Union as a whole. One of the major problems that I have seen with the Comptrollers Office is the student body's ignorance as to the responsibilities of the job. The ComptrOller is responsible for the Barn, Campus Police, operation of the Bar, and just recently, the Campus Radio Station, CIMN. It is the most useful and down to earth office Of the Executive Council. While away from school. I was employed mostly in the construction industry where I learned the true value of a business-like practice. I worked as a carpenter, plumber, landscaper, labourer, maintenance man, cook,

Last summer I had the opportunity to work with the past comptroller at various events in the Barn. A substantial profit was made then which helped defer the fixed costs during the academic year. I would like'to see the Barn
