Another and similar accident occured to day at Simbach, Bavaria, where ten persons were drowned in the River Ion, one of the principle effluents of the Danube by the capsizing of a boat.

Much Property Destroyed---Two Lives Lost.

Sr. Jony, N. B., May 26.—The niost disastrous conflagration that has visited St. Johan since the holocaust of June, 1877, occured yeeterday.

It started about noon in Nase’a large

‘ store (Indiantown) and it was not until ) eight o’clock at night that the flames were ‘ brought under control.

The burned district was mostly built of wood ,but included a number of good resid- ences and large places of business.

About two busdred buildinge went down before the flames, and a great many people were rendered homeless.

Miss Cunard, an old ladv, was fatally buroed, and another woman died from fright.

The insurance is not at all in proportion to the loss.

Bad Boy Murderer.

Waitsy,Oni., May 24.— Edward Elliott, the 15-year-old boy from Beaverton. was convicted here yesterday of having mur- dered Wm. Murray, and ie under sentence to be hanged on Thursday, August 17th.
