We found ourselves in a very unfortunate position wht-n w: lost the Federal grant for Agri- culture. both financially and other- wise: and we made an effort. and a very strong effort. to have the Tcthnical grant deflected in that direction. I myself had the oppor- tunity of placing this matter before the Duncan Commission at the sit- tings held in this Chamber, and as a result of that it was recommend- cd in ihe Duncan Report. Follow- ing that the Provincial Govt-rn- "lpnt took the matter up with tlic. Federal Department of Labor. A ccnfczence was held something over n. year ago, I think in the month of February. at Ottuwapwhich wasat- tanded by Mr. Shaw, Mr. Boulicr. and myself. and where the claims of this Province were presented. At that conference. I think, almost all the Provinces were represented as well as thc Federal Departmcrlt. Tile importance of having tllisrllat- ter attended to. of having the scone- cf that technical grant ivideried ill- to thc field of agriculture so far as, possible. was urged. and following that Mr. Crawford of the Federal Department visited this Province.‘ and the plan was arranged.
