Donald, arrived in port Saturday morning after supplying the light- houses along the coast of Belle Isle. The steamer is now loading further supplies and will leave next Saturday. July 4th. to continue the work. The C. G. 8. Brent. Capt. Kelly also arrived in port Saturday after supplying light houses along the Nova Scotin coast.

--MAKES RESCUE—-A girl whose name could not be learned was saved from drowning at Mim- inlgash Run Friday night by Henry Gallant of Summer-side. Gallant dove into Miminigash Harbor and pulled her from the black waters after she had fallen off a water- front wharf there. Unable to swim, the girl was struggling helplessly when the Summerside man made the rescue.

FUNERAL SERVICES—'I‘he lun- uzal of the late John M. Jenkins took place on Wednesday, June 24th on 3 o'clock from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Roland E. Har- per, 81 Victory Ave., to Birch Hill Cemetery and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Ewen Mcnougali, assisted by Rev. Hugh Miller. The pallbearers were Messrs. Henry Mutlow, James Ran- lun, Bruce Stewart, Ax-temne Fergu- son and John Rankin.

Island was pre- sented by her sisters with a beauti- ful bouquet of roses in honor of her election to the office of Most Worahipful Grand Lecturer of the L. 0. B. A. of British America. Sister Bonnell is the first and only member on the Island to have the honor of being an officer in this Most Worshlpful Grand Lodge of British America.

COAL DFTICE rs ENTERED - Burgiars who forced their entrance into the office of W. D. Glllis and Co. on lower Water street during the week-end had little to repay them for their efforts. They found no money in the office. A passer--by lust evening about five o'clock saw the door partly open. He notified the city Police who invutlgated and found that the door of the 0I('l.e had been forced open. Nothing in- side had been disturbed, however. The door was secured with a Yale look and part of the door frame had been broken in forcing the entrance.
