Campus Notice Board

The job descriptions for Student Council positions are as follows:

President: The primary public relations officer of the Student Union, chairs meetings of the executive, isamember of the Student Council, isa liaison between the Union and the administration, sits on Senate, and performs other duties as required. The president is the figure head for the Union and often sets goals forthe executive.

Vice President External: Acts as acommunication link between the Union and all external groups. Examples of external groups are Federal and Provincial governments, and the Canadian Federation of Students. VPE assists the President in all of his or her duties, and replaces the president when he or she is unable to act. Sits on Senate and is a member of the Student Council. Other duties as required.

Vice President Finance: Sits on the UPEI Board of Governors Finance and Executive Committees, as well as the Board of Directors for The Cadre and CIMN. Is responsible for the financial affairs of the Student Union. Sits and Student Council and performs other duties as required.

Vice President Operations: Is responsible for organizing all of the events at the barn and for overseeing the operations of all Student Union clubs and sub-organizations. The Panther Lounge Manager and the Student Campus Police Chief report directly to the VP Operations. Sits on Student Council and performs other duties as required,

Vice President Internal: Acts asa communication link between the Student Union and all on-campus groups, including students, all sub-organizations and clubs, the administration, and the Depart- ment of Student Development. Is the Chair of the Board of Directors for The Cadre and CIMN. Sits on Student Council and performs other duties as required.

All Executive members are required to perform 10 regular hours of office work every week.

Faculty Council Representatives (science/arts/business/nursing/ vet. med etc...): The responsibilities of the Faculty Reps are to act as a communication link between the Student Council and their respective faculties. They are responsible for informing the stu- dents in their faculty of all Student Union activities. They are expected to come prepared to all Student Council meetings, and to participate in Council discussions.

Senate Representatives: Senate Reps. are expected to attend all UPEI Senate meetings and represent students in all Senate discus- sions. Senate Reps. are expected to report the activities of Senate to the Student Council and the student body.

Now you are faced with many tough questions. How do I find a job in my field of study? Will my current resume impress employers? Am I prepared for an interview if 1 happen to get one? Don’t panic. The Graduate Placement fice can assist you with all aspects of the job search. If you feel that you need help, stop by the Graduate Placement Office in the Robertson Library Room B08.
