A STRANGE SIGI i heavens in the vicinity of the sun presented a remarkable 1ppearance from Littleton, N. H., at 9 o'clock on the morning of 24 The sky was partly cloudy, anda luminous ring some 50 legrees in diameter appeared with the sun in its circumference, while two other rings, smaller in diameter, were linked into the largest ring. In the circumference of the

large circle there were three bright spots, resembling the sun, breaking through a cloud and with the sun dividing the circumference into four equal sections. The phenomenon was visible tor 30 minutes, when it gradualiy faded witnessed by a large number of persons.

DOMINION PARLIAMENT. Jabdates and Prossevings,

When the House on Saturday, after routine, proceeded to concurrence in sup- ply the Opposition began a fusilade of re- solutions epitomising about all the charges made and refuted during the session. Four divisions were taken at successive stages of the debate, and by consent these divisions did duty for the balance of the resolutions, so as ty avoid the delays incident. to calling in the members. It understood these resolutions were the result of Friday night’s caucus, when in order to down the colossal spectres of jealousy and discon- tent which loomed up behind the chairs of Messrs. Cartwright, Mills, MecMullin, Davies, Jones, Charlton and other would- be leaders, Laurier reluctantly consented to give an opportunity for all to put their peculiar views on fecord. It took nearly four hours to finish concurrence. The Government majority stood at about 31 in all divisions; but the Opposition claim to be satisfied with the result, which they label as moral victories. ‘

The most sanguinary debate of the ses- sion took place Saturday over the gift of $300,000 to the Fredericton and St. Mary’s Bridge Co., which set out the last batch of railway subsidies. It lasted from 9.45 till midnight. when the item passed.

The weather has been clear and bright most of to-day, and gives promise of being pleasant to-morrow. The number of people on the streets this afternoon was remarkably large, Broadway being thronged with pro- menaders. From present indications the crowd during the Centennial will be the largest ever seen in this city.
