A Torontonian purchased a lot in a cer tain town in Manitoba, several months ago, for $200. He had occasion to go to Winni peg shortly after his purchase, and while there succeeded in finding the lot, but it was under fifteen feet of water. However, he had the satisfaction of skating over it.

Ick ON THE New FOUNDLAND , Coast. —The steamer Emberiza, which arrived at Halifax ov the 3rd inst. from Dundee, reports having encountered large quantities of ice on the Banks of Newfoundland, which seemed to hang right around the edge of the Banks. tine Birdie (of P. E. Island), Rankia master, which arrived at Halifax on the 3rd inst., sailed from Alberton, P. E. I., with a cargo of produce, Dec. 24, for St. John’ s, Nfld., but found it impossible to get to St. John’s on account of the large quantities of ive on the coast, and had to put back to Halifax. She had a hole knocked in her starboard bow by the ice.
