Societies,

Well, despite desperate attempts to get in contact with all the clubs, I have not been able to contact them all to see what was happening. But at least I was able to hit some of them. Other than that, | cannot do any more. So, with that out of the way, I give you your clubs!

Engineering Society

Despite what the past file pho- tos indicated, this club is more than bands from the 70's and sleep overs in the dorms. "We're all about partying," says Robert McKenna, president of the society. They've already had their annual corn boil, but never fear if you missed out, because there's always fun lined up for the future. Coming up are three pub crawls, a career night with professionals from the Engineering world, and Engineering Week will sneak up on all of us in March. McKenna continues "We're not fussy, we're not uptight. We're the most fun society on campus. If you've seen the lounge (main floor of Cass) there are crazy pictures everywhere.

The club is open to everyone. In fact, there needs to be more people at our pub crawls!" So you heard (read) the man! Get yourself out on the town and party with the Engineers.

Society of Atlantic Veterinary Students

Sorry folks, but the SAVS is for AVCS only. They are automatically signed into the club once they have enrolled in the AVC program, and the functions of this society are geared towards the AVC students specifically. Some events to sneak into are the Open House on November 4 where the public can snoop around and drill the students on their animal trivia, and Industry Day, when businesses that

work in the veterinary profession come to interact with to-be-veterinarians. SAVS supports its sub-cults like the Bovine club, the Equine club, and the Critical Care club, but again, these clubs are meant to enhance the lives of the AVC students.

History Society The history society is still

- looking for an executive. At present

there are two reps, Alanna James and Christina Holiway. So far there's been a potluck, but that is all. If interested in becoming a member of the exec or even just a member in general, or if you have any event ideas, contact Alanna James at ajames@upei.ca. Sign up is in the History lounge in Main 301, and the club is open to all.

Environmental Studies

There is no environmental studies club...yet. Professors Don Mazer and Graham Pike are looking for students who may be interested in getting one on the go. Greening cam- pus and conferences concerning envi- ronmental issues would be on the palate, as well as other social events. It is very possible that the club could be on it's feet by second semester, so if interested, contact Don Mazer at mazer@upei.ca or Graham Pike at

these guys. I reached the chemistry people at least, and they said "pub crawls" all around, one in mid-October and another in March for chem. There are crawls with each faculty separately and then there is one big-ass crawl with all the sciences combining their forces to create the ultimate crawl. Usually there are a good 100 to 1,000,000 people at the sciences pub crawl. It's crazy nuts fun good times. — As for reps, prezes. execs, and other events, I couldn't get anything out of these guys. But check them out any- way, the lounge doors are always open (except for late evening and week- ends.)

So there you have it! My con- dolences again to those clubs who did- n't make it onto the list, but by now — you must have members and activities: underway anyway.

Music Society

This is not so much a society as it is a cult. Sure they can tell you that it's open to all, but it's really all music students. Any outsiders who join become music students as well. They can tell you that they are part of the campus community, and you can see their building on campus, but really, when do you ever see them? They are always in that building, always with other music students. Yeah, it's a cult conspiracy. But they're still talented, and their concerts rock. So they are forgiven. Go music go!
