One minute into the bas— ketball game on Saturday afternoon, with the score 7-0 for Acadia, we had a strong impulse to leave the; overcrowded gym. Dave Nutbrown's Axemen looked so good and it was a sim- ple arithmetical exercise to determine that, should the difference in play per sist for a full game, our heroes would find them- selves on the short end of a 280-0 score. Such humil— iation we could not bear! Fortuneatly, however, the Panthers rallied, took the lead at 17-15, were ahead at the half 38—34 and went on to a very impressive 89-74 win. During the most of the game less than 5 pts. ‘ separated the contestants until the Panthers really took over during the last three or four minutes. We were glad we stayed! Bill Redmond was the boss man on the floor throughout the action and led the scorers with 28. Curtis Brown had 20 while Collin Edwards, a newcomer this semester,dem— onstrated that the Panthers - are no longer pushovers un- der the basket as he finished with 14 pts. & 13 rebounds. Although fen realized the honour this win lifted us from third place to the top in the A.U.A.A. standings. The game marked the first return of our former coach Dave Nutbrown, in his new ' role at Acadia & was almost a social event as he & some of our former players were shown that we bear them no ill but are all the more anxious to beat them. The hockey Panthers play- ed what was probably their best game of the season in Halifax against Dal. on Sat- urday night.
