At the Grosvenor Exhibition.

Mrs. Langtry was the observed of all observers at the Grosvenor gallery private view Saturday last. No pictures in the place attracted half the attention that she did. She was quietly but stylishly dressed in dark seal-brown velvet and rich Ottoman silk, Inher bonnet, which was of black jet bordered with gold lace, she wore a large bow of the new green watered ribbon. Lady Moncktcn was also much talked of. Her gown was of bright-red Ottoman bro- cade. Her bonnet was of plush, the same color. The dress suited her to perfection, and did @uty, in the way of color, for a uniform, brightening up whatever part of the gallery she happened to be in.

Gladys Lady Lonsdale was very sombrely gowned in black, with a short coat of light brown cloth, and a straw bonnet matching the coat in color, trimmed with

velvet and wings a tone or two darker. Mrs. Oscar Wilde out-Heroded. Herod in estheticism. Her gown, which hung loosely and depressedly, was of sickly

green. It was relieved only with touches of consumptive-locking pink. Oscar was there, disguised as a Philistine. Mrs. Bernard-Beere was in mourning, and absolutely glittering with jet.

Appearances showd not be disregarded in heme life ; husbands altach much im- portance to what others think of their wives and their homes. Itisa part of the science of home life to present a good face to the world ; it argues bad housekeeping to be seen at a disadvantage. At the same time the young wife must never dwindle down into a mere housekeeper and head nurse, with a spice of the dresamaker. She must keep her place as a companion.

A good wile is a priccless treasure, and the husband is none the worse that he is made to realize she is a lady and to be treated assuch. Svrroun! your lord with tender care and tender thought for his comfort, but itdoes not become you to fetch and carry and wait on him hand and foot, or he will come to expect it as a right and think the less of you rather than the more therefor. From the very first expect and demand respect and you will get it.
