The Department of Health and Welfare held their first of three lnnoculations against polio for Grade I pupils in Murray River and Murray Harbour on April 5. Due to the very bad roads to the Harbour in the afternoon. one pupil Lela Blue of Little Sands School went to Murray River in the morning and. aeceived her inooculation there. It is regrettable that the other two pupils did not get their inooculation due to bad roads.
On April 7. the ground was cov- ered with a sprinkling of snow and a great deal of floating ice was seen in the Strait.
School closed here on April 7 to re-open April 18. Mrs. Dean Blue the teacher planned to attend the Teacher's Convention this week in Charlottetown.

Daniel No- lan. who reside here. Well along in the evening of life. Mr, Nolan was nearing the eighty mark when called suddenly in death. His funeral was held on Good Fri- day from the Hennesey Funeral Home to his parish Church at St. Andrews in this vicinity. where funeral services were conducted by his pastor Father George Mc- Cormack. His remains were laid to rest in the old cemetery where he had attended many a funeral in the past.
