A seventy-five hours’ walking match, to begin within thirty days, for $5,000 side, has been arranged between O'Leary and Crossland. ‘The match between O'Leary and Guyon has fallen threugh, O'Leary being unwilling to walk before October.

Tue St. John papers report that on Friday next Michael Happney, of Charlottetown, will run at Moosepath Park against time. He will endeavor to cover three milles inside sixteen minutes. Hebets $5 he cau accomplish the feat.

Messrs. A. & C. Brack, publishers, of Edinburgh, have made seizures upon pirated copies of the ‘Encyclopedia Brittanica,” published by Stoddart & Co., of Fhiladelphia, which were being sold by agents in Montreal. The Edinburgh firm got several articles copy- righted, and hence the proceedings,

A WonprrruLt Cuitp.—One of the most re- markable freaks of nature in existence is at present in Halifax, and can be seen in the great annex to Barnum’s Show from I1 to 12a. m., and4to5and7 to.8 p.m. Itisa little girl, 14 months old, with two heads and shoulders, and four arms, but only two feet. It was born in St. Benoit, near Montreal, of French parents, both of whom are with it. Conversing with Doctors Moren and Wick- wire who had seen it recently, our reporter learned that it is all that it is represented to be, is certainly one of the greatest wonders of the age, and well worth seeing.—Hz, Herald.

TE Governor of New York thinks, with Lord Dufferin, that measures should be taken conjointly with the Governments of the State of New York and of the Province of Ontario to pat an end to what may be called the dese- cration of the famous Falls of Niagara, by the expulsion from its surroundings of the herds of hucksters and sharpers that throng around it to the annoyance of visitors. The Legisla- ture of the State thinks well of the proposal, and has appointed a committee to examine and report on the subject. ‘The project is to form an International Park around the Falls.

Two Sisters or Cuarity arrived here from Quebec on Saturday, and left again on Tues- day merning. We understand that their mis- sion to this city was for the purpose of ar- ranging preliminaries with His Lordship Bishop Mcintyre for the establishment of an Infirm- ary and Orphanage. This much-needed in- stitution will be situated on Dorchester street, in the former residence of His Lordship. The building is ,being completely renovated, and we learn that a large addition will be built to its northside. The Sisters visited it on Mon- day, and expressed themselves well pleased with the site, and said they would probably return to this city to enter on their duties in August or September next.
