The’Mohawks played only 10 games all year but they were good and the boys had hopes of entering the national finals here.

Their coach through the season was a Roman Catholic priest who admittedly did more guiding than actual in- structing. When lent rolled along he had to give up even those chores and the team was stuck without a coach to take it to the tournament. Billy Mulligan Day was proving a tremmdoua success with all the fans and players doing their bit to put e show over with a bang. Prince County's Bill Smith and Cbarloltetown's Ralph 'Fa'rme'r' Josey provided fans with a bit of liorseplay that had the youngsters really roaring. ill and the ‘ armer' staged a ‘fake‘ fight with Smith pounding away at Josey’s stomach. Both boys seemed to enjoy the fun as much as the spectators, That‘s the kind of an attraction i was.

But it remained for Angie Carroll and Greg Deighan to get into a real stick swinging duel that horrified the packed Arena. Both went at each other with sticks flying and Delgban received a cut over the eye. It apparently was a carryover mm a game in Civic Stadium when Carroll was cut open above the eye.

t any rate. the. two hockey players surely cannot feel proud of their contribution to Billy Mulligan Day. Here was a game for a young ockeyist who had just lost an eye and here were two thoughtless players laying the groundwork for another such horrible casualty.
