Sir: IIAVE received and read with satistaction the Address to Lieut. Governor Dundas, enclosed in your Despateh No. 6.3, of the 16th of August, in which a large number of the inhabitants of Prince Edward island unite in expressing their personal regard for Mr. Dundas, and in bearing testimony to the eilicient manner in which he has administered the Government of the Island.

of Prince County, made in this cause, I do order that WIL-

LIAM HENRY ELLIS, one of the above-named Defendants, do cause an appearance to be entered within three months from. the date hereof, in this Honorable Court, to a Bill ﬁled in the above cause, and that a copy of such order shall, within fourteen days from the granting hereof, be inserted in the Royal Gazette news- paper in this Island, and shall continue to be inserted therein for a period of not less than three months.

THE QUEEN vs DONALD MOLEOD, for attempting to persuade or entice one WILLIAM GLYNN, a soldier in Her Majesty’s 16th Regt. of. Foot, to desert.

The facts of the case lie in a very small compass. On the 15th of the present montht the prisoner who was riding on atruck, was met by Miss Ellen Duﬂ‘y, a young and very intelligent person, near Admiral Bayﬁeld‘s corner; he enquired of her which was the upper and which the lower road; she having designated b0th,the prisoner made choieeof the lower I'oad,when Miss D for the ﬁrst time, perceived that there was 'a Soldier on the truck, when she immediately called out to the prisoner “ that was not the right way to the camp, and that they ought to take the Upper PUNUI;” that the prisoner must have heard what she said, for he made some reply. which she did not distinctly hear. Glynn, the soldier, was examined and deposed that he knew the prisoner at the bar, that he met him yesterday evening driving a truck. Prisoner asked him if he was going to the barrack, to which he replied yes. Prisoner told him to jump on the tail of the truck. He did so. Prisoner then spoke of the number of men who had deserted from the Regi- ment, said it was likely the deserters would not be found. Prisoner said he could partly drop on them—the deserters—said that he would drive him—Glynu—17 miles into the country if he wished, when he would see somebody whom he, Glynn, knew—mentioned the name of a man “ Goodman," who had deserted. He also said there were four others who had deserted, and was about to name the place where they were, when the stoppage of the truck prevented him. Witness believed that the prisoner intended to drive him into the country the seventeen miles_ He had a couple of glasses, but was not the worse of liquor. Sergeant Allan, of the 16th Regt. & Policeman Brennan Were examined as to the capture of the prisoner; and Captain Russel testiﬁed that Glynn had no leave of absence.

Policeman Brennan in giving his evidence testified that on returning to town, after the capture of the prisoner, which took place near Mr. Thcoph. DesBrisay’s gate, that he told the prisoner that he had no right to take away a. soldier that way on a truck; to which he answered “ that the Horse and Truck were his own, and that he would take ﬁfty of them it‘ he could."
