MONTREAL. Dec. 14 -(OP) - (OP) - Bernard (Boom Boom) Geoffrion 'cut loose with two goals to lead Montreal Canadiens to a 8-0 victory Saturday night over the slipping Chicago Black Hawks.

A crowd of 14,038 saw the wide- open game. enlivened by a flstlc action, and applauded Gerry Mc- Neil'a third shutout of the Nation- al Hockey League season.

It was Canadians third straight win, and Hawks fifth low in a row. The Montrealers jumped from fourth spot into a second-place tie with Hawks and moved on to tackle the league-leading Detroit Red Wings tonight.

The Red Wings, off to a slow start this year. scored two goals in the first period, one in the second and then toyed with the Leafs until the end of the game. The victory gave them an extra two-point edge atop the league.

The sell-out partisan crowd had little to cheer about. The Leafs were unable to get an effective scoring combination going and muffed many opportunities around the Detroit nets.

G-LACE BAY, N. 5., Dec. 14 - -(O'P)- A four-goal outburst in the first period gave Sydney Mil- lionaires a 5-4 win over Glace Bay Miners in a cleanly-played Mari- time Major Hockey League game here Saturday.

Paced by Eddie Marineau, with two goals and an assist, Million- aires held on grimly while the fighting Miners steadily trimmed their lead to only one goal with three minutes remaining.

Goals by Freddie Weaver, Mari- neau, Ronnie Rowe and Bill Bir- ukow set the stage in the first period before the 15-minute mark. Gordie Miller scored Glace Bay's lone tally with 15 seconds to go. In the second, Eddie Joss scored the first of his two goals at 7:28 on a rush with Neil Amadio and Pop Backer assisting. Pidsodny, who handled 3'7 shots to Don Lockharvs 25, had little chance on the blistering shot.

And Miners outscored Sydney 2-1 in the, finale, with Hub Macey shooting the first, assisted by Bob Verricr and Jess and the second cdming off the stick of Joss. Mari- neau got Sydney's goal.
