Osx Wednesday last an intoxicated rough named James McKachern entered the grocery store of James Byrne, Esq., C. U., Great George Street, and asked Mr. "by, rne's brotber Edward to sell him a bottle of liquor. This Mr. Byrne refused te do. McKachern, at his refusal, became violent, called the young man names, and threatened him with violence. In the midst of the wordy quarrel Mr James Byrne entered, and in crder to pacify MeEachern he filled a bottle of brandy, gave itto him and teld him to leave the store quietly. McKachern tendered him fifty ceits in payment therefor, but Mr. Byrne informed him that as the C. T. Act was ia force he could not, receive money for liquor. McKachern left the store and shortly after made complaint at the Stipendiary Magis- trate’s Court that Mr. Byrne sold kim liquor A summons was issued against Mr. Byrne, apd the case was tried this ferenoon, McKache mm testified that he bought the liquor from Mr Byrae, and for it paid fifty cents.
