'For all you faithful readers who turn to page 4 each week to read the editorial, we have some bad news. At press time our editor, Larry Green, was idling away the hours flat on his back at the Charlottetown Ecspital. So...no editor...no editorial. ’ *

So, it has fallen to the staff to express a few of their opinions. First and most impxutant.we hope that Larry is feeling better and will soon be back.cn.his feet. we know there are a few letters and articles in this week's' SUN'which.the editor would normally have commented on. Nevertheless, we hope the rest of,the paper will be up to his standards._ '

By the time a person finishes reading this week's issue of the SUN he should realize that there was an election of Student Unim officials this past week. we realize that last week's editorial was on the nomination procedures and» election week and, as mush as we hate discussing a similar topic, something must be said about the election of a Student Council.

The response to this week's gampus comment should be looked at closely. How many people know who or what the Student Union executive is? Do people want to know? Do they care? We don't want to raise the age—old question on apathy. There is no such thing as apathy. A.person cannot be called apathetic if he shows no interest in scnething that scmeone else considers important.

Do the majority of the students at U.P.E.I. care about what the Student Union does? If not, then why bother to pay Student Union fees or hold elections?

we feel that most people do care but they need to be better informed. The student newspaper and radio station can only report.cn.day—to—day events or present their version of a particular incident. ‘ .

What is needed is either a regular Student ‘ [Ithai column in the paper or a weekly open-line talk ShOW'Cn the radio, each week dealing with a different committee, procedure or issue. In this way the average student will be infbrmed as to what actually goes cn.behind the scenes..

Another possibility would be for the University and/or Student Uhicn.to purdhase a large marquee or showcase which could be centrally located on campus. On this marquee all upcoming events, i.e. lectures, bands, movies, etc., could be posted.

An advertising committee could be set up and it would be responsible for posting or announcing all.'

These are only a few suggestions we have. Perhaps these ideas should have been expressed at the election speeches on Monday evening. Perhaps the new executive will work at having a more 1 involved student body next year. we can only wait and hope.

_ All candidates promised to be open and available next semester. Perhaps they will remember some of their promises. we would like to congratulate all members of the new council, be they either in by acclamation or election, and hope they keep the interests of the student body in mind when they take office.

I think it is deplorable that almost all of the articles in 'The Suh' do not have a byline as to who is willing to take the responsibility. For example, the article entitled 'The Pros'

(Feb. 16th, p. 16) concerned with.alleged sexism in sports, was cbviously written by a
