Mr. Trevelyan, Chief Secretary for Ire- land, stated that the Government intend d to abolish the office of special resident magistrates in Ireland
Patrick O'Brien, Michael Hynes and Patrick Slater, arrested for printing and forwarding threatening circulars to trades men in Dablin, have been further remanded until Friday.
The papal propaganda has issued a sup- plemental circular to the Trish bishops, en- forcing the previous injunction and con- taining answers to many priests who asked for advice on matters of conscience The propaganda will shortly issue a cirenlar quoting Cardinal Callen to show that Rome has always opposed seditious associations.
In the British Commons, on the 21st instant, Mr. Porter, Attorney Genera! for Ireland, in reply to a question of Mr. Harrington, member for West Meath denied that Patrick Delaney, one of the Phosnix Park wurderers, had pleaded guilty because of a previous agreement that his life woald be spared if he would give evidence to crim- inate Timothy Kelly.
Thomas Sexton, Member of Parliament for Sligo, in a speech at Dublin on the 20ch, referring to the Popo’s circular to the lrish clergy, said, the action of the Irish race ip relation thereto, would tend to the perman- ent good of the cause of religion. Sexton urged the avoidance of using words that would postpone a reconciliation which he was sure would soon be established on an honorable basis between the Vatican and the Irish people.

The Dutch nation was figured as ‘'Nic Frog,” the linendraper ; King Charles o1 Spain was Lord Strutt ; his French success or was Philip Baboon, and the great King Louis (the Fourteenth) himself appeared as
