of Engluiid,on the question oftlie Clergy Reservesin Canada, recently expressed in the House of Lords, hav- ing shown, indisputably, that the claims oftlie Bishop of Nova Scotia, on the part of the Church of England, to the whale of the proceeds of the Glebe Lands in this island (to the entire exclusion ol'all other religious deno- minations, and more especially to that of the Church of Scotland}, are without foundation, inasmuch as that the terms “Ministers of the Gospel," in reference to this Island, must (according to the plain and obvious menti- trig oflangliage) be equally comprehensive, and, in con- sequence, bear the same legal construction with the terms “Protestant Clergy" in relation to Canada; it is, therefore, requester], thatall those, professingto belting to the Church of Scotland, who feel Interested in this. Important matter, will tiiect at the \Vellington Hotel, in Charlottetown, oii Tuesday, the 30th instaiit, at the hour of 12 o’clock, nmin, iii order to consider the propriety of addressinga Petition to the Right Honorable Her Majes- ty’s Secretary of State for the Colonies, on this subject, to the efi'ect, that, ifthe moneys arising from the sale of Glebe Lands in this Island be at all diverted from the object to which they were appropriated by the Act of Assembly, viz :—“ fiir the purposes of general educa- tion," that the Members ofthe Church ofScotland with- in this Colony may not be deprived of their just and equal share ofthem.
