Grissell, in aceordance with the motion agreed ‘o yesterday, was brought to the bar ef the !louse of Commons to-day, when he read ariost humble apology. Northcote, amidst cheers, moved his commital to New- gate, and the motion was adopted without debate wr division.

The standard says in reference to the al- location of the six vacant seats in the Heuse cf Commons, that Dublin, Cork Co., Brietol, Sheffield and the Metropolitan eon- stituency will each receive an additional member. The claims of Yorkshire are being consideied for the sixth seat.

An election took place at Dregheda yes- terday to fill the seat in the Commous made vacant by the death of O'Leary, Home Ruler. Whitworth, Liberal, was elected.

General Melikeff, Chief of the new Ex. ecutive Commission, was fired at by a student, with a reveiias this afternoon, when alighting from his carriage at his residence in Grand Moskaia. Gen. Melikeff was not seriously hurt. The culprit, who feigns iisanity, was seized by the Cossacks.

The Duke of Edinburgh, all high offi- cials, and many others have congratulated Melikotfon his escape from assassination to-day.

After the morning serenade on Tuesday, the Czar held a reception at which the efhi- cers of the Imperial’ suite, and higher grades of the army were present. At noon there was a soleinn procession to the pal- ace church, the Czar escorting the Czarina.
