BULL LOANING POLICY

For centuries now the keenest minds of the men identified with cattle breeding work have been in- terested in and working toward the development of types of cattle cs- Pwlfllly adapted to the purpose they had in mind, were it the production of beef or of milk, or of a happy lcmbination of the two. As a result >1 these long continued efforts breeds have been created wonderfully well luited to the end in view, as for in- stance, the Shorthom, the Hereford. Ehe Angus and others for beeg pro- iuction. or the Ayrshire, the Hol- stein, the Jersey, the Canadian, the Guernsey and s few others for milk production, while certain other breeds developed or strains thereof have seemed to unite in themselves the happy facilities of producing milk in generous quantities st low costs, and of producing good beef at a. profit, as in the case of the dual purpose Shorthorn, the Llncolnshire

Costs of producing the product in mind with the breeds adapted to such particular purpose are uniform- ll‘ lower than where unsuitable cat- lle are used, hence the importsnce of using the right breeds and the right lvpes if we are able to hope to make ll success of the business in hand.

Fortunately, well bred grade fe- males of the right breeds have been hund to be nearly as aatisfactory producers as the purcbreds. hence the farmer desirous of making a. prof- 13 from his cattle may ordinarily hopfl to succeed if he is able to con- tinuously use pure bred bulls of the right type on his she stock.
