February 2009 had players and fans alike worried about the Lady Panthers.

While they were guaranteed a spot in the AUS Champion- ship as hosts, nobody want- ed a pity spot. They wanted to earn it. Earn it they did on Feb. 25, 2009 against Mount Allison. This win was enough to put them in place for the AUS Championship game fair and square.

Championship, UPEI played St. Thomas Univer- sity and while they played well against the Tommies, it wasn’t enough to keep them in the running. The 1-0 score insured that St. Thomas was moving on, and that UPEI was not.

With eight rookies on the team this past season, our ladies did well and will no doubt continue ‘to- improve as the team builds upon the progress they have made in the past months.

Winter sports raise money for digestive research

HAMILTON (CUP) — While fundraising is important, asking for donations or sell- ing chocolate bars isn’t the most exciting thing in the world.

But a group of profs from Hamilton’s McMaster Uni- versity are putting a new spin on it.

The profs are traveling to Alberta to engage in some winter sports to raise money for research about digestive diseases.
