A Gun R.sir.wsr.—-The Grand Trunk Rail- way, in Canada. is to be 1,100 miles in length; of this, 392 miles are completed, and the rest is in course of construction. The debt of Canada is $24,350,000, the most of which has been contracted for this railroad. The part of it which has been built, and now in running order, pays very good dividends.

The society has already eﬂiaoted a desirable change in our market. lever year, vegetable produc- tions diﬁiirent in kindv and su erior in quality, are being exhibited during t e season,and at earlier periods every successive spring and summer. On the last market day. there were cucumbers, now otatoes, green peas and young carrots in Mr. \vis's stall, all excellent of their kind. This is a great im rovcment. Still much remains to be done. ituated as Charlottetown is_with as fertile a soil surround- rn_git, asever Cit or Town was ever blessed with, and every acility of transport, whether by land or water; there ought not to be a single article of vegetable growth wanting. for the sustentation, comfort or luxury of its inhabi- tants. It is a state of thin s positively dis- graceful, that we are indebted to the States of America for sup slice of fruit, which we might ourselves raise o ‘a far superior quality, for we should remember, that the best fruit is saved for their own market.
