_.."I'onlght ‘the Montague 8hmo- hawks and their sister club will play a benefit exhibition hockey game with the Charlottetown Ab- blss and their sister club at Mon- tague. the full proceeds of which will be donated to the fund for Mr. Lowell Poole, a resident of Montague stricken with polio last year, who since his illness has been a patient at the Polio _Clinlc at Charlottetown. It is worthy of note that Mr. Poo1e's condition is improving somewhat. to that he is able on occasion to visit his wife and family at home.

Both the Abegweit. club and the

Shmohawk club, men and girls teams, and,the Montague Legion. who are managing the rink, are each contributing it full share so that the contribution to the fund will be as large as possible. Be- sides being for a most worthy purpose, the double header game will provide the best of enter- tainment for the large crowd ex- pected to attend.

Death At Grandview of Mrs. MaoPherson

The death occurred yesterday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Robert MacPhee. Grxmdvlew oi Mrs. Donald H. MacPherson in her 63rd year following a lengthy ill- ness.

The late Mrs. MacPherson. nee Mary MacPherson. was born at at Melville, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander MacPher- son.

Besides her sorrowlng husband she is survived by one daughter Annie Mae. Mrs. Robert MacPhcr Grandview and a son Angus of

Bellevue.

Surviving also are three sisters Christine, Mrs. Milton Ward of Taunton, Mass., Marjorie. Mrs John M. ‘Mac!’-’herson, Brooklyn, and Annie, Mrs. Robert Whiteway. Brooklyn; and three brothers, Daniel of Eldon: I-lughie and Cal- lum of Flat River.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 1.30 from the residence of Mr. Robert MacPhee to the Val- leyfleld Church for service at 2 p. m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Eastern King: Exhibition To carry on At Souris

The Eastern King‘: Exhibition Association has decided to carry on with the annual exhibition held in Souris rather than amalgamate with the Dundee Plowing Match. The decision was reached at a meeting of exthiibitors held in the Town Hall Souris Saturday and the vote was very close with 19 mem- bers favoring the idea of carrying on as before while is believed in amalgamation.

A large number of those presen: offered their opinions on the sub- ject. Among them were the four committee members previously named to discuss the subject with the directors of the Plowing Match. They were Messrs. Ernest Under- hay. Bay Fortune; Henry Mallard. Souris River; R. L. Burge, St. Pet- ers; and A. F. Peters. Rollo Bay. others takingpart in the discuss- ion were D. F. McAulay. The accident occurred short- ly after 8 A.M., rafter a freezing early morning mist had made the pavement slippery and dangerous. ‘me truck. driven by Mr. George Whiotcway of Dover. had proceeded cautiously from Murray River to the top oc the hill, where before descend‘ he reduced the gear and applied the b . However. the heavily laden tru was soon out of control on the icy pavement, and efforts to make the turn at the bottom were without avail. The truck continued across the main Street. leaped over the sidewalk. crashed into the brick corner of the Bank of ‘Nova Scotia, and pIunged'lnto the jewellery store owned by C.R.. Boehner.

An occupant of the truck. Mr. Buddy Maoxinnon. leaped free just before the initial impact.
