Terrible Storm in the Northwest.

A severe storm visited Manitoba on Wed nesday night. Rain fell in torrents. The lightning was vivid. Several houses were blown down, sidewalks torn up, and fronts of houses blown out. Lightning damaged the Hudson Bay Company's storehouses to the extent of $10,000.

A very cordial and harmonious call was sustained from the congregation of George town and Montague, to Mr. W. (1. Spencer, and the elerk instructed to forward it to him for his decision.

Moderation in a call was eranted to the congregation of Tignish, Moutrose and Kimsdale; and Rev. J. M McLeod ap- pointed to preach in Montrose on 8th Sep- tember, at ten o'clock, and moderate in said call.

Rev. A. B. McLeod declined the call from Strath Lorne, Cape Breton. In setting the call aside, the Presbytery expressed their cordial concurrence in Mr. McLeod’s decision, and their sympathy with the

The Meeting of Presbytery.

Tut Presbytery of P. E. Island met according to appointment in Lots 16 and 14, on the 26th inst.;in Lot 11 and Egmont Bay, on the 27th; and in Tyne Valley, on the 28th inst. There were present Rev. Alexander Sterling, Neil McKay, J. Me- Leod, Wm. P. Archibald, Arthur F. Carr, George McMillan, Wm. A. Mason, and Roderick McLean, ruling elder. These meetings of Presbytery were held in res- ponse to a request from the congregation of Richmond Bay with a view to the division of the congregation into two dis- tinct charges. At Lot 16a resolution was passed to the effect that if the other sections concurred in the arrangement, they would eonsent to the organization of Lots 14 and 16 into a distinct and separate charge. At Lot 14 the following resolution was adopted, via :—‘*This meeting being of the opinion that on account of the extent of the congregation of Richmond Bay and the large number of preaching stations therein, it is impossible for any one minister to perform the pastoral duties involved, would earnestly request Presbytery, the other sections concurring, to disjoin Lots 16 and 14 from Tyne Valley Egmont Bay, and Lot 11, and form them into a new congregation.’ Those who were present at the Lot 11 meeting expressed themselves willing, provided Tyne Valley and Egmont Bay concurred, to be organ- ized with gthese two stations into a distinct and separate charge. At Egmont Bay and at Tyne Valley the following resolution was unanimously adopted, viz :— “This meeting being fully persuaded that the congregation of Richmond Bay as at pres ent constituted is too large, and that a division is necessary, express their approval of the plan proposed re the formation of Lots 14 and 16 into one congregation, and of Tyne Valley, Lot 11 and Egmont Bay into another congregation, and earnestly request Presbytery to give effect to the proposed division of the congregation. ”

Wherefore, the Presbytery, after mature deliberation, ananimously agreed to grant the request of the congregation, and the moderator declared Lots 14 and 16 to be a distinct and separate charge, to be known as the congregation of Richmond Bay East; and that the acting elders in these two sec- tions, with Rev. N. MeKayas their in- terim moderator, shall constitute the session thereof. He also declared Tyne Valley, Lot 11, and Egmont Bay to be a
