i would 1ike to thank Alan Hilton and Dale Gould for helping me with my campaign. Also I would like to thank all the people who supported me all year. i was also impressed with the numbers who turned out to vote.

I commend my opponent. Heather Boyce for her strong campaign and the ideas she voiced.

Last Friday, 34 ' 'students and 3] members of the faculty, administratiOn and staff attended a week- end seminar called involvement '77. The cost was $1,600, involved 65 people and was a weekendA at Oak Acres (down Murray River way.) . ,

This could be an article about what happened during 1 this weekend but that would not get the essence of the affair. But for those who don't realize what Involvement '77 was, it was a weekend where staff, adminiStration, faculty and students could sit dovm and talk.

However, _McGibbon was outspoken on various issues regarding the Atlantic Federation of Students as well as the Landlord and Tennant Act.

The new President of the Student Union has been skeptical of the A.F.S. during his campaign.

He has hinted that he would like to see UPEI boy cott the federation as have other Universities in the Maritime region.

Official statements state that he will ” look into the matter closely be- fore authorizing payment of fees to the organization.

McGibbon's opinions regarding the Landlord and Tennant Act are going to face a head on collision with the University admin- istration.

He has stated that he feels Campus residences should remain under the auspTces of the Act.

This is directly opposed to President Ronald Bakers views on the matter. The President has stated he would prefer to see no residences, rather than residences controlled by the Provincial Act.

McGibbon has experience on the student newspaper, radio station, and student union.

McGibbon is serious a- bout the job but realizes little can be accomplished in his short term in of- fice.

At a recent Seagram's Distillery presentation, Mickey Place, the Student Union Business Manager, and his wife were dis- cussing the presidential candidates. Mickey was saying how Boyce was re- ferred to as “the girl with the pretty face.“

When asked by his wife to point out McGibbon, Mickey said he was sit- ting beside so-and-so. Mrs. Place said “ Oh, you mean the boy with the pretty face.“
