CHARLES CoNDERT, once a lieutenant in the Guard of Honor, of the First Napoleon, and father of Condert Brothers, lawyers of New York city, died at South Orange, New Jersey, on Wednesday. He was born at Bor- deaus, France, December 27th, 1795. After the restoration he was stationed at the cavalry school of Saumur as a cayalry officer, where hreugh the influence of Lafayette, he always said, he became involved in a conspiracy to place upon the throne the yeung Duke Reich- stadt, Napoleon the Second. The conspiracy failed, and he, with several othors, was sen- tenced to be shot. Through some informal- ities he was to have asncdial trial, but he es- caped after eight month’s imprisonment, and came to America, where he has been living | for fifty-five years.
