A resolution was presented by the Fire Chief for the provision of ceiling hooks. riibber suits. blan- ket insurance covering each fire- man. and a buzzer system to installed in the home of the Fire Department members to notify them when a fire occurs. It was decided to leave this matter in the hands of the fire committee.

Miss Thelma Larter was elei-tczi president of the Young People's So- ciety of st. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Montague, at a monthly meeting held at the manse Monday evening. other officers are. Secre- tary, Shirley Stewart: treasurer. Richard Knox; worship ronvener Verna Stewart.

The meeting opened with the worship period conducted by Rich- ard and Robert Knox.

The Bible study. Acts. third chapter, was in charge of Rev. 2''. N. Young.

Correspondence included a letter tiom Miss Joan Large. secretary of the P. E.I. rally executive.

Thelma, Stewart. was :Ippoiii:c.i to represent the local society on the Y. P. S. council.

The sum of 310.00 was voted to- wards the Camp Keir fund.

At the close of the meeting the members enjoyed a social hour.

Home And school Meeting At Montague

Dr. G. S. A. Inman presided at the meeting our the Home and School Association held at the Montague High School last night. After the reading of the minu-tcs of the last -meeting by the secre- tary, Mrs. Elsie Watterworth. sev- eral matters of importance were discussed. During the discussion a committee. was formed to investi- gate whys and means of raising funds for the Association.

Reports on the successful Hal- loweien parties were presented by the committees in charge. and it was indicated that the children. both young and old. had had a very enjoyable evening. it was hoped that this would become an annual event for the children.

It was proposed that at the meet- ing next week that Dr. L. W. Shaw. De-putty Minister of Education. be invited to address the meeting on home and school problems.

After some further discussion

Thursday Afternoon

On Thursday afternoon. the Scroll of Friendship Log Book will arrive in Montague from Charlottetown, and will be dis- played at the Legion Hall from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M.

During a rally held at Oxford University this summer. Princess Margaret Rose handed the Scroll and Log to Miss Estelle Wish-i art. Chief Commissioner of Can- ada Guides. It has come from the Isle of Wight. since then it has travelled from Guide to Guide by every known method of transpor- tation. In Canada it is being ar- ranged to have it travel by as many means of transportation as possible. On arrival in Montague It will be met by two Guides at the entrance to the Town. then conveyed to the Legion Hall, where it will be met by a guard of honour (colour party). and guarded by two Guides, and with a change of guard each hour. At the hall the Guides will present a program. and it is sincerely hoped that school children, adults. and par- ticularly the parents of the Girl Guides will -be in attendance to view the Friendship Scroll and Log Book. which is worthy of spe- cial attention.
