One of the largest congregations ever wit- nessed at St, Margaret's assembled at the chure’ on the feast of S. S. Peter and Paul to hear the farewell sermon of their reverend pastor, After High Mass the priest returned to the sanctuary, when one of the ishion- ers advanced to the rail and read the follow- ing address, which was accompanied by 4 well filled purse :—

Rev. axp Deak Srr,—It is with the most profound sorrow that we, the parishioners of St. Margare’’s, learn that your connection with this parish is about to be severed. The news, sc sudden and unexpected, we were quite unprepared for, as we looked forward to a long and pleasant intimacy.

For the nearly two years you have been our parish priest you have won for yourself our hon love and esteem. From the first you have taken a lively interest in our wel

fare, both spiritual and temporal, and it is p3rtieularly gratifying to koow that your labors have bees crowned with success. We are proud to say that, as a result of your exertions in the temperance cause, not a drop of liquor is now sold in the parish, and your parishioners have become # practically tem

perance people. It also gives us pleasure to add that by your wise management the finances of the parish are iu a most flourishing condition.
