Sir,—This government is, according to ex-Premier Warburton, and he ought te know, $427,000 in debt; and it has takeo $150,000 from the people in taxes. Had it not collected taxes, the debt would have been $607,000

The Conservative government was $124,000 in debtat its close which with $200,000 it drew from capital would make the total sum $324,000. It was keeping opthe Legislative Council for 13 years, his would make $65,600. It paid teachers supp'ements up to $150, say $3000 pr year more than the liberals. This makes $39000. Tt paid bigher salaries to offic'~ als say $2060 per year $26006 making in all $120,000. But it took $80,000 frcm the people.

This statement affords a fair comparison of the records of the two governments; and if it provesanything it proves that the prese ent government is three times as extrava~ gant as its predecessors, Why should people bope for better things because Hon. D. Farqubareon is at the head of affairs ? He is responsible for bad government as much jasapyone else, because he was a member of every Liberal Administration since the party came into power, Had the Liberal Conservative party been receiving the same amount of taxes as the present reigning party they would not have a deficit every year, but on the contrary a consider~ able surplus. The grits do not rule wisely nor well. Nor itis iikely that they ever will; for they have neither tbe tact ror the geniusto conduct affairs in a practical businesslike manner.
