THE (RISH CHURCH.
With the begiuning of the year 1871 begins the operation of the Fish Church Bill. The year therefore will be a marked one in the his- tory of England. It sees the partial reversal of the impolitic and unjust Establishment which had weighed so heavy upon a whole people, and created and perpetuated eo much bitterness between the two races.
The Church-men have been making earnest bat rather unsuccessful efforts to supply, by voluntary contrivution and cther means, the Jack of the support of which the Bill deprived the ‘* Established” Church, established no longer, in Ireland) The working of the Act, as well as the.working of the Land Bill. re- maius yet to seen. ‘There is little doubt that two such measures can but have a most beneficial effect upon Ireland, They are not perfect of course, but a little time will reveal the weakness, and the justice and generosity which passed the Bill will not refuse to amend them.

Ducrot’s Account or His Lscars. — General Ducrot has written an account of his escape from the Prussians after the disaster at Sedan.
