Now .what makes e. mental case? You perhaps believe the condition is inherited and in a sense it is but only because the children of nervous par- cnts, brought up in a wrong home atmosphere. did hot get the training that will fit them in meet life pro- lmlv- ’

Home of the children are pampered and protected in every possible way, perhaps taken to school by the par- ents for a year or two starting school; are not allowedto play with other children in the school yard or neigh- borhood; if there is difficulty with a teacher the ‘ is blamed by the parent.

And it is here that the family doc- tor can help to prevent these youngs- ters being mental patients in the fu- ture.

As Dr. O. R. Yoder of Kalamazoo. points out prevention is the only solu- tion to thepwblem of lessening the number of mental cases.

He knows and understands every member of the family; he knows their bad family relations, their quarrels, Lhclr problems and ideals.

By friendly suggestions he may be able to prevent many irresponsible acts.’

Thisin- icrease represents the recruits gath- ered by the traffic from our homes; the boys whom we sought to safe- guard from drinking habits through ‘the ‘medium of prohibition.

These new customers of the boot- legger decayed from the flowers of our nation's hope. the excellency and virility of youth. Not long ago an associate in Christian work a- mongst boys made to the writer the startling declaration that allarge majority of our grown up boys in- dulge in intoxicanis. This was too much for me to believe, but I fear there is more of it than betokene a iloaltily moral atmosphere.
