The Retail ' Merchants' Committee of the Summerslde Board of Trade has recom- mended that Sunimerside, stores close on Friday afternoon. May 4th in observance of

N.A.T.O. Day.

As Mayor I would like to see as many stores as possible observe the holiday by closing. thereby allowing their staff members to at- tend the Wings Parade at the R. C. A. F. Station.

The Retail Merchants Committee of the Summerside Board of Trade have received a request from the R. C. A. F. that Friday, May 4th be declared a half holi- day due to the N.A.T.O. graduation ceremonies, and have agreed.

The committee urges all businesses to co-operate with the local Air Force Station by closing their stores on Friday afternoon so their staffs may attend the ceremonies.

-FIREMEN CALLED - Sum- merside firemen were called to action at 8.30 yesterday morning for a fire in the building occupied by Tessle's Taxi, the second alarm from that building in two days. A portion of the roof at the rear had caught but firemen easily extinguished it. The day before the alanm was caused by an over heated stove pipe. 8

Distinguished Guests Expected At Summerside

A large number of distinguished guests including two ambassador; and a Federal cabinet minister, have accepted invitations to be present at the Nata Day ceremonies at R.C.A.F. Station, Summer-side on Friday afternoon. when students of Italy, Belgium and Norway will be presented with their navigetors' wings.

This will be the first graduation ceremony to take place under the program by which Canada under- took to train airmen of member nations of the Atlantic Pact. anti consequently is considered an un- usually important event. The chief of the air staff. Air Marshal W. A. Curtis and Mrs. Curtis will also attend. Others who will be present are: Air Vice Mar- shal C.R. Slemon, air officer com- manding Training Command and Mrs. Slsmon: the Belgian military and air attache. Major De Vicq De Cumptich and Mrs. Cumptich; the Italian air attache at Washing- ton. General Enrico- Cigars: and Mrs. Cigerza; Brigadier I-LL. Cam- eron, aide to the Minister of Na- tional Defence and Mrs. Cameron.

All these guests will arrive by air on Friday morning and pr umsbly will return that evening. However, the Belgian Ambassador and his wife are expected to stay in Char- lottetown till the following day.-
