As a matter of fact, one of the idosyncralsies of Americans is re. fer-ring to their males, under the age of say 23. as “boys”—regard- less of how big, tough, seasoned and precocious they are. in ap- pearance and temperament. Both the older 1nd younger gen- erations refer to our younger men as "boys." Furthermore. many men in their 305. 405, 50s and even 605, continue to think of themselves as “one of the boys." Also, haven't you ever heard a bevy of middle - aged American wives and mothers, coyly refer- ring to their husbands as “the boys?" It is part of the lingo of

Dear Mary Hawarvth: I have been going with Dick for four years. and we plan to marry next spring. Lately I’ve been trying to rule his life. If he buys somet- thing I don't approve, I jump all over him, and it makes him mis- erable. The annual meeting of the Clyde River W.I., was held at the home of Mrs. W.A. MacLean on Monday, November 3rd. The ode was sung followed by the collect. Roll call was answered by thirteen members paying fees.

Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer reported proceeds from entertainment in the hall were $55.75. All bills were paid. The birthday box contained $5.52.

Some discussion took place re- garding sewing class for girls, this was left with Mrs. Robert Matheson to contact a helper. A leadership course is to be held at Central Royalty Hall on No- vember 28. Sick and school com- mittee reported. Roll call at the December meeting will be an- swered with a Christmas gift for a child at Springhill. Also any- one in the community wishing to donate good used clothing may do so. as members are packing a box at next meeting. which will be held at Mrs. Watson Living- stone's on Wednesday evening. Best wishes were ex- tended Mrs. Milligan for many happy returns of the day.
