. ' INTEBTAIN Y. P. 8. - Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Reid. Montague. were hosts to the members of the Y.P.s. 0! St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at their meeting last week. The meeting was conducted by idle pre- sident, Miss Thelma Larter, who was assisted during the worship per- iod by Miss Phyllis Reid and Buddy Fraser, The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary. Phyllis Reid. and approved as read. Plans were dismissed fcr presenting a one-act play. but the final decis- ion wns left over until the next meeting. At the close of the meet- ing a. social hour was enjoyed. Lunch was served by the hostess. assisted by Mrs. J. D. MacP'hersoii and Miss Reid.

..-c. o. i. 'r. ill!-IETING - There were twelve girls prcsr-ni at the regular Akela C. G. l. T. meeting held at the home of the leader. Mrs. A. L. Fraser. Montague, on Thursday. One new member. Sandra Rendcll, was welcomed. Miss Mill-ie Lake, president. pre- sided over the business meeting. Following the C. G. l. T. purpose and prayer. the minutes of lne last meeting were read and ap- proved. A lellcr was read from Mrs. A. D. MacKenzie inviting the girls to attend the World's Day of Prayer service on Feb. 9th. The mil call of Sunday School and C. G. l. T. followed. and if was noted that five had periccl ai- icndance. During the worship period the scripture was read by Miss Greia Wigginlon. after which the hymn, "Take Time To Be Holy", was sung. Excerpts from the story. "Looking Back", were read, followed by prayer. During -the study period, the lcader gave the girls Japanese words to copy in their noicibooks. The evening was spent working on tea towels. -while the leader read stories and myths of Japan.

Valleyfield W.M.S. Monthly Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Valleyiicld W. M. S. was -lield at the misuse on Thursday evening. Mrs. M. Coo-pcr was in charge of the worship period. taken from the Missionary Monthly. the theme being. "God Working To- gether With Us". The call to war- ship was read by the leader, fol- lowed by the -hymn. "Standing At The Portal." The loader was as- sisted by Mrs. A. J. MacPlierson. Prayers were given by three mem- bers, Mrs. M. D. Marlin for God's

guidance and strength for the new

year. Mrs. Jack Macllhcrson for Iihe work in the Church and the Society, and Mrs. A. C. Fraser. for the work being carried on by fel- low Christians in Japan.

This was followed by the instal- lalion of the officers. after which the hymn. ”Take My Life. And Let It Be". was sung.

The president then took charge of the business period. The min- utee of title last meeting were read and approved. Roll call was ans- -wered by twenty members with a verse from Acts. The treasurer. Mrs. Jack Ms.cPhe'rson. gave her final report. having completed twenty years as treasurer. and passed the books over to the new treasurer, Mrs. Roddy MacPher- son. The Rev. A. C. Frascr gave an nddress. and presented Mrs. llarry Vanbuskirk with a life member- ship certificate.

Mrs. W. A. MacLeod checked on visits, and Mrs. Harry Vanbuskirk had charge of the study book.

The meeting closed with a lien- ediction in unison, and prayer by Rev. Mr. Fraser. .

Montague High School Defeats Murray Harbor

The Montague High School de- foaied the Murray Harbor squad iby iahe overwhelming score of 18-3 at the Montague Rink Saturday night. The youngsters put on a very fine perforn-lance for the fans who turned out in large num- bars to see them play. For the locals. Higginiboilharn garnered live scores. Johnston and Power 4. ClemcnLs 2. D. MacDonald. Wat- I6l'iVDrll1, and J. MacDonald one each. For the Harbor MacLeod and L. MacLean were the goal getters. Although the score was one-sided the visitors put up I still battle, and lost several scor- ing opportunities. However, a return game is slated when the teams will be more evenly match-

In the second encounter of the evening. the Single Men defeated lhe Married Men 8-1. This game was a crowd pleaser. and all en- joyed Lhe traditionally triendly rivalry between the members of the teams. However. the speed and stamina of the single men proved to be the deciding factor, and the oldsters went down to defeat.

Souris Board Ol Trade Holds Annual Meeting

Mr. Arthur Wright was elected President of the Souris Board of Trade at the annual meeting held on Wednesday night in the Town Hall. sourls. He succeeds Mr. B. L. Stewart. The newly diected Vice- President is Mr. Peter MacAulsy. Mr. Charles Boylan was re-elected secretary-'rrea.surer. The executive council includes. Messrs. 3. 1.. anew- art, Paul Gallant, my white. J. Brenton at. John, William Acorn. Ray Lesrd and Alex Mooney. An ambitious program was laid out for the coming year and plans were formulated to increase membe ship by each member of the executive enrolling five new members.

In his report the retiring presi- dent. Mr. Stewart. outlined some oi the achievement: of the post your and pointed out the need for renew- ed and vigorous effort on the part of all so that the Town may con- tinue to go forward.
