In preparing for the Presidents address I thought that it only reasonable to turn to my election speech of February 76 and to the Cadre "write up" February 16.

There are many things that I and each of the other candidates had hoped that the Student Union could do. Changes that we had hoped could be made. To quote from last years speech:"not great and wonderful things just small things that, when added together can mean a hell of a lot. Before anything can be changed, before we can do new things...people have to start to care, they must be concerned.

The executive came together at the end of April and low and behold a lot of dreams were very much the same.

Many of our hppes have

not come to be. Granted

we have carried on the usual operations of the Student Union. No one

can take away the fact that we have tried.

The Student Union con- stitution designates my re— sponsibilities as our radio station CIMN and our news- paper, the CADRE. CIMN is doing an excellent job this year. The music played is not all the same (variety is the spice of life), news reports are good and so is sports coverage. Arrange- ments for cable television are nearly completed and day students should be able to listen to their campus radio next semester. Credit should be given to Maurice Rogerson, station manager, for the excellent job that he is doing. The CADRE is a much better paper this year than last but it is still

Treasurer resigns

New comptroller

Gerald McKenna is now acting Comptroller of the U.P.E.l.S.U. and will be until the general elections in February. Gerald was appointed by the executive of the Student Union after the last council meeting. He has begun assuming some of the responsibilities already and will take over fully on Nov. 30th, the day Terry Parson's resigna- tion becomes effective.
