Hockey fans in Summerside have expressed an interest in the change in name of the local Summerside ‘hockey club which | this year had added. (P.E-I. F their team name in tribute to their sponsors, P.E.I. Concrete Products Ltd.

This was a decision made un-| animously by the players them-/| selves who discussed the mat-! ter of a team name and felt | that while retaining the name of | the Aces, which most of the players carried to a Maritime In- termediate championship last year, they would like to follow the pattern of a Charlottetown, sponsored team and include something from the ame of the} sponsor. |

RonMacArthur Given Nod To Play With S'side Entry

Summerside’$ Ron MacArthur has gotten the green light to play with Summerside’s P.E.I. Aces, the western entry in the Island Senior Hockey League.

The ban barring MacArthur from playing with the Summer- side squad was lifted last night at a meeting of ISHL executive at the Charlottetown Hotel.

The meeting was attended by the league executive representa- tives of SDU; Royals, Perfection Penguins and Aces.

However the ban on Mac- Arthur’s defense teammate oh last year’s championship team, Eustace Reeves, will continue. Reeves will not be allowed to Play with Aces.

WANTED BALANCE

Originally MacArthur, Reeves and Doug Williams, all defense-| men, were _barred from the ; Aces’ lineup afier a move to get two‘ entries from Sumnier- | side to participate in the league failed.

At the time spokesmen for the league said the move was made to retain balance in the fledgel- ing circuit. With the three de- fense stalwarts, it was pointed out the Aces might prove too powerful for the rest of the loop.

Doug Williams, now living and working in Charlottetown, has since turned up with the Pen- guins while Reeves has played one game with Sandy’s Parkdale Royals. Reeves scored a goal in the Royals’ 7-4 loss to Aces Mon- day night.

BUSINESS IN S’SIDE

In permitting the sturdy Mac- Arthur to return te the Sum- merside fold the league repre- sentatives took into considera- tion MacArthur’s status as a bus- iness man in Summersie and his | inability and ~uUnwillingness to play with any other team.

They also felt his return would not upset the present balance of the loop, which league president’ Ivan Docherty believed as first rate so far.
