A Sap Arvarn —The Quebec Chronic'e re- ports a sad «ifsir, attended with serious results, which took place at Valcartier, Que., a few days ag». A woman, a resident of that place, being alone in her house with four chiidren, the eidest five years of age and the youngest a mere infant, fell down in an epileptic fit. The children being frightened started to alarm their nearest neighbors, who lived about a mile away, and walked that distance in their bare feet in one of the coldest days of this winter, the eldest carryihg the joungest on his back. The result was that all four were so badly frogem that the -pnysician found it necessary to amputate the little uufortuuates’ feet.

Tax Green-erep Monster.—Late advices from Guderich, Ont., state that cries of mur- der browg!t help to Mra. Donald McKionon, on the 15.4, as she lay in her hasband’s barn with a ballet in her body, just below the heart. She was removed iato the house. There her husband was fc uad also shot, his wound being in the abdumen. Both were thought to be mortally wou ded and their deposit a) were taken. MecKinnon’s was to the effect chat his wife had become insanely jealous of him and had attempted suicide and that when he discovered what she had done he alao- resolved te end his life, Mra. Me- Kianon’s deposition states that her husband in a fit of jealousy threatened to murder her aud that she was pursued by him to the barn, where he ficed at her. Neither can recover.

Kenstncron.—Judging by the town of Kensington we should say that enterprise has not yet departed from the Province. There is now hardly left a sign of the great fire which well-uvigh obliterated this rising town a little more than a year ago—only new and finer buildings have been erected in the place of the older ones. Dr. Macneill moved into his splendid aew residence on Feday last. ‘*The Jubilee,” under the management of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clarke, is now one of the best appointed and most comfortable hotels in the country. The stores are well supplied, and the moer- chants of the place apparently prospering. Neither Konsingten nor the settlements roundabout are ruined yet.

Smiler and Feank Fish—all of whom are utider sen- tence of death. Slecum, new in Sing Sing prison, killed hia wife Ellen in a tenement house in New York city, Dec. 13th, 1889 Swiler murdered his mistress, Maggie D Riiney, at New York, April 3rd, 1890. The woman left him because of ill-usage, aad upon her refusal to return to him Smiler shot her dead. Smuler was a print- er, and had b-en a lieutenant in the Salva- tun Army. Fish murdered John Cullinane & Canandaigua, Jan. 25th, 1890.

Liselle, it appears, was in the habit of rising early and assist- ing its Preparing the breakfast. This the Archdeacon supposes will be in July.
— Victoria was very kind to the poor of Windsor at Christinas, as is usual. Her gifte took the forin of beef and coal. Joints of beef, of from three to seven pounds weight, have been distributed, the size varying in accordance with the aumber of those who constitute the family. The total weight of these joints was a ton anda half. The other half of the gift, consisting of coal, is delivered at the bouses of the recipients, so many sacks
