Sir,—Owing to the predictions and pro- nhetic words of the editors of the Summer- side Progress in the West, and the King’s County Advertiser in the East, as published last week in reference to the 8S. 8. ‘‘North- ern Light” being placed at the Capes route during the coming winter, I am induced to say, in the interest of very many who have greater experience than either of these young prophetic editors, and who are really desirous to see winter mail communication effected by any possible route, that they are not only unbecoming and unealled for on the part of these editors to be publish- ing broadcast, notonly what is reasonable in this matter, but what they wish to see car- ried ou, namely, the dog in the manager policy—that is ‘‘if the ‘Northern Light’ ean’t (which has been aleealy proven) run between Georgetown and Pictou—don't let her try to run anywhere else.” Fie on such a policy! Shame on such men that would (if they could) impede progress by such piny sectionalism!! Now that thou- sands of dollars have been spent on the Georgetown route with a view to winter communication, and that Sewell’s best sea boat, together with the talent and ;ef- forts of mauy, have not been equal to to the task during the past winters, ria the Georgetown route, why should Mr, McCourt of the K. C. A. whine so pitiously about the ‘‘ N. L’s.” going to try the Capes route !—the one and only route by which we can ever have winter communication with the outer world. In proof of this look to the means always resorted to when his route failed every winter. If this is not sutticient, I ask him to look back, if he can, for the last fifty years, and if his memory does not extend so far back, let him seek information from some older and wiser head head than his own. They will not fuss up merely becanse the editor of the Advertiser has no limits to his editorial of last week on this subject ; their gool sense and love of justice will'‘prompt thei to wait awee, witness the result at the Capes and then give their opinions. They will doas we have done—look on and up to the time and means of so great a boon tu this Province—no matter by what ronte we get it. Thisis not a mere sectional matter. [tis one affecting the public not only as this country but the whole Domin - ion. Then, why harp and chew at the able efforts of the Minister of Mavine and Fish-
